Fabian Wildi has successfully completed his apprenticeship in Polymechanics with Federal VET Diploma. During his four-year-training he gathered practical work experience in the departments Prototype Building and Plates/Screws Manufacturing. 

We congratulate Fabian for his diploma and are pleased that he continues contributing to the success of Medartis.

Is there anything better than putting theory into practice? This is precisely what nearly 30 Participants from 12 different countries have praised the most during our Foot Launch Event in Basel on the 4th and 5th of November 2016. 

Our new foot product range enjoyed great interest and appreciation not only through its innovative system features but also through the insight into the making of the products. From the birth of the idea, through the manufacturing, right to the very application of the implant in the patient – The Foot Launch Symposium offered a holistic platform for scientific exchange, for sharing of experiences and for learning new methods. 

The faculty board, with Prof Victor Valderrabano as chair, excelled in leading the audience through their studies and experiences with the new Medartis Foot product range, always allowing scientific criticism to accompany their findings in their fields of research.    

A special point of interest is owed to the New Hallux System 2.8 – An arthrodesis system for fusion of the joint lines within the 1st ray. The high adaptability to the bone through its anatomic shape, its low-profile height and compatibility with the innovative polyaxial angular Trilock screws are the characteristic features of this plate range.  

With focus on different kinds of arthrodesis, our new products for the medial and plantar TMT arthrodesis were some of the highlights and stimulated for discussions. While the medial arthrodesis triggered interest with our new integrating Lapidus transfixation screw, the plantar plate has drawn the attention to its exceptional anatomic shape thanks to which there is no need for contouring it any further. 

An eminent resonance came in response to the new CCS 5.0, 7.0, our self-drilling cannulated compression screws that fascinated predominantly, although by far not uniquely, through the extremely reliable self-drilling function despite its dimensions.  Demonstrated on an ankle fusion exercise during the cadlab, the CCS 5.0, 7.0 convinced all participants that literally no predrilling is required. 

Last, but not least, the Speed Tip C 2.0 and Speed Tip C-Snap screw, a little, inconspicuous screw ensured the wow-effect due to its unique features. The self-drilling function reliably protects the tissue and bone from over-heating and irritation. Without pre-drilling, the screw proves to have increased purchase, stability and pull-out strength due to a more condensed screw-bone interface.  

The high quality facilities during the symposium and the cadlab guaranteed an all rounded experience. The Medartis Headquarters is where all of Medartis happens – With a private auditorium and the plenary productions facilities, we were able to host the first half of the event under one single roof. 

The cadaver lab at the AMTS in Muttenz offered the most modern und unique facilities – the latest in mobile fluoroscopy from “Hologic” allowed precise examination during the exercises and the Aesculap power tools were perfectly suited for all indications treated in this course. All exercises have been demonstrated in a pre-operation by a member of faculty – the live transmission with close-up shots to all working stations enabled each and every participant to closely watch the process while further support has been provided by participating distributors and the entire Medartis Staff. 

The outcome of the Foot Launch Event in Basel was tremendous and we are extremely proud of having given the participants, the faculties but also ourselves new material for discussions, exchange and learning. Each one of us benefitted in his or her own way and it would have not been possible had it not been of such an open minded and scientifically driven nature.

We already look forward to hosting more events of this kind in future and hope very much that a large attendance of surgeons from all around the world will make those event just as unforgettable as this one. Spread the message!
